さやえんどうをプランターで育てることはできるのでしょうか？
さやえんどうというと、どうしてもつる性のイメージが頭にあり、家庭菜園では敷居の高いイメージになってしまいますよね。
つる性の野菜というと、にがうりなどもつる性という理由で家で育てるのをためらっていました。
アサガオもしかりで、こちらは野菜ではないのですが咲き終わった後のつるの処理にどうも大変なイメージがついてしまっています。
しかし、タワー状に育てることにより、管理はしやすく後処理もそんなに手間がかからずにできます。
今日はそんなさやえんどうについて、初心者でも失敗しない方法とタワー状に育てる方法を見ていきす。
さやえんどうを家庭菜園で育てようと思っている人は是非参考にしてみてください。
さやえんどうってどんな植物？
さやえんどうは、マメ科の一年草で、秋に種をまいて冬越しした苗から春に収穫します。
サヤエンドウには、サヤと豆の両方を食べるスナップエンドウ、サヤだけを食べるキヌサヤ、
豆だけを食べるグリーンピースなどの品種があります。
さやえんどうは、日当たりと水はけの良い土壌を好みます。
土壌酸度はpH6.0～7.0が適しています。
種まきは10月中旬～11月上旬で、株間は30cmくらいにします。
一つの穴に3～4粒ずつまき、深さ2～3cmで土をかぶせます。
発芽するまでは乾燥しないように水やりをします。
発芽したら本葉が2～3枚になるまで育て、間引いて2本立ちにします。
冬越しするときは小さい苗の状態で寒さに強くなるようにします。
防寒対策として株元にもみ殻をまき、霜除けに不織布や寒冷紗をかけておきます。
春先になって生長が旺盛になると、支柱を立ててネットを張り、つるを絡ませて誘引します。
また、開花前と開花後に追肥を行って収量を上げます。
水やりは乾燥しないように適度に行います。
収穫時期は品種によって異なりますが、一般的には4月～6月です。

・11月下旬～12月上旬：防寒対策
・3月下旬～4月上旬：支柱立て・追肥
・4月中旬～6月中旬：収穫

種まき：
日当たりと水はけの良い土壌に、1か所あたり3粒ほどの種を深さ2～3cmでまきます。

つるはタワー状にすると管理が楽
タワー状に育てるというのは、支柱を円錐形に組んで、つるを巻き付けていく方法です。
この方法のメリットは、省スペースで栽培できることや、収穫しやすいことです。
デメリットは、支柱の組み立てが少し手間がかかることや、風で倒れやすいことです。
タワー状に育てる方法は以下のようになります。
種まき：
10～11月に種まき用の培養土を入れたポットに種をまきます。
1ポットに3粒ほどまき、深さ2～3cmで土をかぶせます。
発芽するまでは乾燥しないように水やりをします。
苗植え：
本葉が2～3枚になったらプランターや畑に植え付けます。
株間は30cmくらいにします。
支柱立て：
株の近くに長さ200cm以上の支柱を4本立てます。
支柱の上部を紐で結んで円錐形にします。
その後、支柱の下部から上部までネットを張ります。
誘引：
つるが伸びてきたらネットに絡ませていきます。
つるがネットから外れないように注意してください。
水やり・肥料：
乾燥しないように適度に水やりをします。
開花前と開花後に緩効性化成肥料を株と株の間にばらまいて土と混ぜます。
収穫：
4～6月頃にサヤが5～6cmくらいになったら収穫します。
サヤごと食べられます。

さやえんどうを育てる際に発生しやすい病害虫についてです。
さやえんどうに発生しやすい病気

葉に緑色濃淡のモザイク模様が現れ、葉が変形したり、茎に褐色状の壊疽が生じます。
原因ウイルスをアブラムシが媒介します。
うどんこ病：
葉の表面に、薄く白い粉状のカビが発生します。
被害が進むと葉全体が白く覆われて生育が悪くなります。
褐斑病：
葉・茎・サヤ・種子に発生します。
葉には褐色の病斑、サヤには赤褐色で凹みのある病斑が生じます。
これらの病気を防ぐためには、以下のような対策をとりましょう。
・種まき前に土壌消毒を行います。
・アブラムシを防除するために、殺虫剤を散布したり、テントウムシなどの天敵を利用したりします。
・乾燥しないように水やりをしますが、湿気がこもらないように風通しを良くします。
・病気に感染した植物は早めに処分します。
さやえんどうに発生しやすい害虫
さやえんどうに発生しやすい害虫は、以下のようなものがあります。
ハモグリバエ：
体長3mmほどの乳白色の幼虫が葉肉の中から葉を食害し、
葉の表面に絵を描いたような白い筋状の食痕を残します。
エンドウヒゲナガアブラムシ：
体長4mmほどの淡緑色の虫が、葉、花、サヤに群がって吸汁加害します。
モザイク病のウイルスを媒介するため、注意が必要です。
シロイチモジヨトウ：
淡緑色で背に白い筋のあるイモムシ状の幼虫が、葉を食害します。
これらの害虫を防ぐためには、以下のような対策をとりましょう。
・ハモグリバエは黄色いトラップで誘引したり、殺虫剤で駆除したりします。
・エンドウヒゲナガアブラムシは殺虫剤で駆除したり、テントウムシなどの天敵を利用したりします。
・シロイチモジヨトウは手で取り除いたり、殺虫剤で駆除したりします。
